Experts: Russians’ 2020 mobile apps spending rises 25% to $1.3 bln

MOSCOW, May 20 (PRIME) -- Expenses of Russian users in mobile applications increased 25% to U.S. $1.33 billion in 2020, the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC) said on Thursday in a research.

The number of active users in social media rose 30% to 64 million, but the number of messages fell 8% to 1.2 billion.

TikTok led by installations, Boom by the volume of payments, and WhatsApp by the number of active users per month.

The segment of digital content increased 44% to 123.4 billion rubles.

Of the total, online video advanced 59% to 19.4 billion rubles, including ecosystem subscriptions; online music doubled to 8.4 billion rubles, including ecosystem subscriptions; online gaming added 30% to 90.2 billion rubles; e-books rose 25% to 5.4 billion rubles.
